About WattCosts

WattCosts exists to answer one simple question: "How much does it actually cost to run this thing?"

Whether you are debating between a space heater and turning up the central heat, wondering if that old freezer in the garage is worth keeping, or just curious what your gaming PC costs you each month, WattCosts gives you the answer in seconds.

How It Works

Every calculator on WattCosts uses the same straightforward formula: watts × hours × your electricity rate. We pre-load each appliance page with its typical wattage so you can get an instant estimate, and you can adjust any input to match your exact situation.

The electricity rates we use come directly from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), which publishes average residential rates for every state. We update our rates quarterly.

What We Are Not

WattCosts is not an energy company. We do not sell electricity plans, solar panels, smart home devices, or anything else. We are not trying to upsell you. We built this because we wanted a clean, fast tool that just tells you what things cost to run, and everything else out there was either paywalled, loaded with ads, or trying to sell something.

Who Built This

WattCosts was built by a small team that believes useful tools should be free and fast. If you have a question, suggestion, or spot an error, you can reach us through the contact information on our Privacy Policy page.
